THE SPIER HARVEST FESTIVAL

In late February we celebrate our annual grape harvest with a festival on the banks of the Eerste River, in front of the wine tasting area.  The lawns are transformed into a market offering delectable treats, to be paired with Spier’s award-winning wines. There are interactive games for kids including puppet shows, magicians, face painting and popular vineyard tours via tractor. Our Cellar Master, Frans Smit blesses the harvest and his winemaking team lead the charge in the annual grape stomping challenge! Bands play during the day, filling the air with bluesy tunes.

The Festival of White Lights

In early December we celebrate the festive season with the Festival of White Lights.  It includes a dazzling display of light – fire dancers, sculptures and lanterns – and a diverse collection of artistic performances.  The festival is a journey across the estate, which starts at 20h00 at the wine tasting area. Spier’s ‘Angel of Light’ on stilts leads the procession. Arrive early and enjoy a picnic with soothing music and Spier’s award-winning wines, or linger longer at the Spier Hotel to the sound of bluesy tunes.
