SA stories weave through recycled tapestries
On 08 March 2012, an exhibition by Tamlin Blake, ‘Altered Yarns’ will launch at Spier in the new wine tasting venue. In this exhibition Blake will present a series of limited edition prints and tapestries woven from recycled, handspun newspaper. A new Spier publication ‘Tamlin Blake’ will also be launched. Blake’s tapestry artworks will form part of the Spier Collection, while the prints and publication will be available for purchase.

Feast and festivities at the annual Spier Wine Harvest Festival
On Saturday 25 February 2012, Spier will celebrate its annual grape harvest on the banks of the Eerste River, in front of the wine tasting room.  The lawns will be transformed into a market offering delectable treats, to be paired with Spier’s award-winning 21 Gables and Creative Block wines. Relax with wine and food under the trees while the kids play interactive games including puppet shows, magicians, face painting and popular vineyard tours via tractor.

Diners Club Winemaker of the Year announced

Johan Jordaan, senior red winemaker at Spier Wines since 2007, is the 2011 Diners Club Winemaker of the Year. This was announced at a gala event in Paarl on Saturday night (26 November). The Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year is Matthew van Heerden of Uva Mira Vineyards.
